d) No refund of less than 1 month except 50% on medical grounds (medical certificate to reach before the termination of course.)

Foreign Nationals will be permitted to join the courses subject to their obtaining Restricted/Proctected area permits, wherever necessary, from the Competent Authority, prior to their visit and their complying with the instructions of the Government of India in this regard. Foreign nationals should apply for admission in the said courses to the Principal, HMI, Darjeeling three months in advance giving their full particulars e.g. name, age, nationality, occupation/profession, passport number, visa number, permanent address and local address (if any) alongwith a copy of the Restricted/Protected Area Permits obtained by them for their visit from the Competent Authority. Total of 10 foreign students can be accommodated in every course.

Serving Armed Forces, Para Military and NCC personnel to apply through their departments.

Vacancies to Private candidates are alloted "First Come First Serve Basis". All applications to be accompanied with Medical Certificate and course fee. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

The Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi grants full scholarships to the 10% of total applicants of Basic and Advance Mountaineering Courses whose own or guardian's income is less than Rs. 2000 per month and half scholarship whose income is Rs. 2000 to Rs 3000 per month. Application should be submitted to the institute six months in advance along with income certificate signed by Gazetted Officer.

Only account payee demand draft in favour of Principal, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute payable at State Bank of India, Darjeeling is acceptable for course fee.

If using the form that is on this site, all must add a surcharge of Rs. 50 (Two Dollars incase of Foreign nationals) along with other requirements.

Detailed instructions regarding reporting to the Institute and items to be brought by the trainee will be intimated along with vacancy confirmation letter.

Proof of Date of Birth should accompany the application form.

A confirmed vacancy can be cancelled or carried forward to the next course if written application is received clear one month in advance from the date of commencement of the course, otherwise the fee will not be refunded. Request for transfer of vacancy will be entertained only once.

All queries/correspondence to the Institute to be addressed to the Principal and not by name of any Officer/Staff of the Institute.
